Cicely Tyson and James Earl Jones star in The Gin Game on Broadway this Fall by Photojournalist Lisa Pacino
This Fall 2015, legendary actors Cicely Tyson and James Earl Jones will share a Broadway stage for the first time in almost fifty years in a new production of D.L. Coburn’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, The Gin Game, directed by Leonard Foglia of Broadway’s Tony Award winning Master Class.
Ms. Tyson and Mr. Jones shared the Broadway stage for the first time in 1966, when they appeared in A Hand Is On The Gate at the Longacre Theatre. Previously in 1961, they appeared together in the original cast of French playwright Jean Genet’s The Blacks, the longest running off-Broadway non-musical of the decade, running for 1,408 performances; and again in 1962 off-Broadway in the Moon on a Rainbow Shawl.
Ms. Tyson is an Emmy Award winner and Academy Award nominee who won a Tony Award for her role as “Carrie Watts” in The Trip to Bountiful in 2013. Mr. Jones made his Broadway debut in 1957 and won Tony Awards for Fences and The Great White Hope. He most recently starred in You Can’t Take It With You; and is a recipient of three Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award, and a Lifetime Achievement Oscar. Both have extensive film and TV credits in addition to their extraordinary theatre work.
The Gin Game is set to begin previews September 23, 2015 and open October 14, 2015 at the Golden Theatre, New York.
