On Wednesday, April 13, 2016 another historic and massive star-studded rally took place in Washington Square Park, New York with a record breaking 27,000 in attendance. Senator Sanders has broke all political rally attendance records in United States history, including President Barack Obama’s.

Senator Bernie Sanders has held countless rallies and events since the the Democratic Party presidential candidate traveled to his home state New York on March 31st kicking off his campaign for the New York Democratic presidential primary. The rallies were held throughout New York City boroughs and New York State. It began with a massive South Bronx rally with a crowd of 18,500- actual number 22,000 with the outside overflow. It was followed by a rally in front of his childhood home in Brooklyn on April 8th with Mark Ruffalo, and another in Coney Island on April 10th with Michael Stipe of R.E.M. On April 9th he was joined by Harry Belafonte, Spike Lee, Nina Turner, Erica Garner, and others to speak at the legendary Apollo Theatre in Harlem. On April 14th he spoke at the National Action Network (NAN) convention hosted by Rev. Al Sharpton. Friday, April 15th he flew to Italy to speak at The Vatican with an invitation he received from the Pope; Saturday, April 16th before his flight back to the States he met briefly with the Pope to discuss climate change, poverty, and more. The evening of Saturday, April 16th upon his arrival back to the States he stopped at an Art Gallery featuring artwork inspired by Bernie followed by the First Unitarian Congregational Society church, Brooklyn for a multiracial roundtable with Dr. Cornell West, Linda Sarsour, and more. Sunday, April 17th was another historic and record breaking rally in Prospect Park, Brooklyn with Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, Danny DeVito, reggae star Tanya Stephens, and more. Monday, April 18th was his last New York City rally before the Democratic Primary on Tuesday, April 19th. Tim Robbins is an Academy Award winning actor, screenwriter, director, producer, musician, and activist. He is well known for his portrayal of “Andy Dufresne” in the prison drama film The Shawshank Redemption in 1994. His other films include Bull Durham, Jacob’s Ladder, The Player, and Mystic River for which he won his Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, and for directing films such as Dead Man Walking.
Rosario Dawson was born in New York City of Puerto Rican, Cuban, and Irish decent. She is an activist, actress, singer, and writer. She made her film debut in 1995 with the controversial teen drama Kids. Some of her subsequent film roles include He Got Gamein 1998, Men in Black II in 2002, Unstoppable in 2010, César Chávez in 2013, and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For in 2014. She won the Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actress- Motion Picture for her 2005 role in Rent; for her 2014 role in Top Five she was nominated for the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Actress in a Comedy.
Spike Lee was born Shelton Jackson Lee in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Brooklyn, New York. His mother was a teacher of arts and black literature, and his father William James Edward Lee III, a jazz musician and composer. Spike is a film director, producer, writer, and actor. His production company, 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks, has produced over 35 films since 1983.He made his directorial debut with She’s Gotta Have It in 1986, and has since directed such films as Do the Right Thing in1989, Malcolm X in 1992, and most recently Chi-Raq in 2015. Lee has acted in ten of his own films. He has received two Academy Award nominations, a Student Academy Award, and an Academy Honorary Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2015; he has won numerous other awards, including an Emmy Award and the 2013 Gish Prize.
Linda Sarsour is an Arab-American Civil Rights activist for racial justice from Brooklyn, New York.
New York Senator Thomas Duane served from 1999 to 2012. He was the first openly Gay Senator.
Vampire Weekend is an American Rock band from New York City, formed in 2006. They are currently signed to XL Recordings. The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Ezra Koenig, drummer and percussionist Chris Tomson, and bassist and backing vocalist Chris Baio. Their third studio album, Modern Vampires of the City in 2013, won the group a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album in 2014.
