The 70th Annual Tony Awards Red Carpet, Ceremony, and After Parties. Tony Award Winner James Corden hosted and presided over the 2016 Tony Awards show, broadcast live from the Beacon Theatre in New York City on Sunday, June 12th, 2016 at 8:00-11:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT, on the CBS-TV Network.

The 70th Annual TONY AWARDS night history was made: All four awards for performances in musicals went to black actors. ★ Cynthia Erivo, The Color Purple for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical. ★ Renée Elise Goldsberry, Hamilton for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical. ★ Leslie Odom, Jr., Hamilton for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical. ★ Daveed Diggs, Hamilton for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical. ★

Hamilton won for Best Musical ★ The Color Purple won for Best Revival of a Musical. ★ The night included Barbra Streisand, Oprah Winfrey, Carole King, Brenda Russell, James Earl Jones, Chita Rivera, Anna Wintour, Zac Pozen, Questlove, Common, and hundreds more.

Returning to the Tony Awards stage for the first time since 1970, legendary EGOT and icon Barbra Streisand who presented at the 2016 Tony Awards. On April 19, 1970 at the 24th Annual Tony Awards she won a Special Tony Award that evening at the Mark Hellinger Theatre in New York City. Barbra was nominated six years earlier at the 18th Annual Tony Awards on May 24, 1964 at the New York Hilton, New York City for her role as “Fanny Brice” in Funny Girl, Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical category.

 Broadway’s biggest night presenters included Oprah Winfrey, Carole King, James Earl Jones, Common, Angela Lansbury, Audra McDonald, Chita Rivera, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Uzo Aduba, Cate Blanchett, Josh Groban, Gloria & Emilio Estefan, Jake Gyllenhaal, Steve Martin, Edie Brickell, Sean Hayes, Nikki M. James, Saoirse Ronan, Neil Patrick Harris, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Patina Miller, Blair Underwood, Christian Borle, Lucy Liu, Marlee Matlin, Meg Ryan, Nathan Lane, Bebe Neuwirth, Glenn Close, among others.
