Broadway’s Hamilton Mixtape Expected to Hit No. 1 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart by Photojournalist Lisa Pacino
The original Broadway cast recording of Hamilton set multiple records on the Billboard charts and according to Billboard.com, the recently released all-star Hamilton Mixtapes album is expected to achieve the same success.

According to record industry forecasters, the compilation album, which dropped last Friday, December 2, 2016 through Hamilton on Uptown/Atlantic Records, could deliver anywhere between 175,000 and 200,000 equivalent album units in the week ending December 8, 2016. Of those, traditional album sales could equal approximately 160,000 to 190,000. According to the site, the Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). This Sunday, the Top 10 of the new Dec. 24-dated Billboard 200 chart will be revealed on Billboard’s websites.
The Hamilton Mixtape features a collection of remixes, covers, and tracks inspired by the multi-Tony Award winning Broadway musical. Among the artists featured on the recording are Alicia Keys, Queen Latifah, Nas, Busta Rhymes, The Roots, John Legend, Andra Day, Jill Scott, Ashanti featuring Ja Rule, Chance The Rapper, Sia, Usher, Kelly Clarson, Regina Spektor, Lin- Manuel Miranda, and many more.
The original Broadway cast recording of Hamilton peaked at No. 3 on the July 2-dated chart, and remains on the chart for 62 consecutive weeks. The album marked only the third cast recording to reach the top 10 in the last 50 years. The other two cast recordings include Hair (No. 1 for 13 weeks in 1969) and The Book of Mormon (No. 3 in 2011). The cast recording of Hamilton has to date, sold 848,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music, and is the tenth-biggest selling cast recording since Nielsen began tracking sales in 1991. —Sources Billboard, iTunes, Broadway World, Playbill
