Tony Bennett Celebrates 90: The Best Is Yet to Come by Photojournalist Lisa Pacino

Multi-Grammy and Emmy award winner Tony Bennett, who celebrated his 90th birthday this past August, will be speaking in person with Danny Bennett and Moderator Lester Holt, Anchor of the NBC Nightly News, at The Paley Center for Media in New York, December 14, 2016.

Legend Tony Bennett may have left his heart in San Francisco, but his soul is all New York when he comes to the Paley Center for a once-in-a-lifetime evening of his personal memories as we watch classic TV clips of his artistry together. A highlight of the evening is a sneak peek at the upcoming NBC-TV special Tony Bennett Celebrates 90: The Best Is Yet to Come (airing Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 9:00 pm ET on NBC-TV), along with rare 1950s clips from the Paley Archive, including his unforgettable renditions of the American songbook and his first #1 hit, “Because of You.” NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt will interview Bennett along with Danny Bennett, the executive producer of the TV special. And the evening will end with questions from the audience.

TONY BENNETT (born Anthony Dominick Benedetto; August 3, 1926; Queens, New York) is an Italian-American singer, artist, and civil rights activist. He is a singer of pop standards, show tunes, and jazz; and an accomplished painter, having created works under his real name Anthony Benedetto which are on permanent public display in several institutions. He’s also the founder of the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Queens, New York. His activity in the civil rights movement began in the 1950s; Bennett worked closely with Harry Belafonte and other celebrities in the 1960s assisting Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the movement. Mr. Bennett’s most recent album Cheek to Cheek was a collaboration with Lady Gaga (Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta), released on September 19, 2014. Bennett has won 19 Grammy Awards including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, 2 Emmy Awards, Kennedy Center Honoree in 2005, and received countless other awards and accolades.
