Angela Lansbury, Dick Van Dyke, Meryl Streep, and Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda join Mary Poppins by Lisa Pacino

It has just been announced star of stage and screen Angela Lansbury will be making an appearance in Disney’s upcoming remake of Mary PoppinsMary Poppins Returns. The cast will also include Dick Van Dyke, Meryl Streep, Emily Mortimer, Emily Blunt, Colin Firth, Christian Dixon, and Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda. Mary Poppins Returns is expect to be released December 2018.

The are no details as of yet to the role Lansbury will portray. The talented actress is no stranger to the Wonderful World of Disney, she lent her voice to the beloved character “Mrs. Potts” in the studio’s 1991 animated classic, Beauty and the Beast.

UPDATE- February 17, 2017: Disney has now confirmed statements made in December that Angela Lansbury has joined the cast of Mary Poppins Returns, the all-new sequel to Disney’s 1964 film Mary Poppins currently filming at Shepperton Studios. She will feature as the “Balloon Lady”, a treasured character from PL Travers’ series of Mary Poppins children’s books. A five-time Tony Award winner and the recipient of an honorary Academy Award, three Academy Award nominations and bestowed with numerous other accolades, Angela Lansbury’s career encompasses more than 70 years. She is a beloved member of the Disney family and starred in Bedknobs and Broomsticks and voiced Mrs. Potts in the animated classic Beauty and the Beast. The film is scheduled for release December 25, 2018.
