Tony Award Nominee Phillipa Soo of Hamilton Fame to Star in Amélie on Broadway by Photojournalist Lisa Pacino

Amélie, A New Musical starring Tony Award nominee Phillipa Soo begins preview performances on Broadway March 9, 2017 at the Walter Kerr Theatre, New York with an official opening date on April 3, 2017. Phillipa Soo originated the role of Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton in the Broadway musical Hamilton, earning her nomination.

The musical premiered at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in September 2015; it starred stage, television, and film actress-singer Samantha Barks who made her film debut as Éponine in the film version of the musical Les Misérables. It’s directed by Tony Award winner Pam Mackinnon of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?.  Amélie, A New Musical features a book by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award nominee Craig Lucas, music by Daniel Messé, lyrics by Nathan Tysen & Daniel Messé, and musical staging and choreography by Sam Pinkleton.

Amélie is base on the five-time Academy Award nominated 2001 film.

Amélie will also feature Savvy Crawford, Adam Chanler-Berat, Tony Sheldon, Manoel Felciano, Alison Cimmet, Maria-Christina Oliveras, Harriet D. Foy, Alyse Alan Louis, David Andino, Randy Blair, Paul Whitty, and Heath Calvert.

Phillipa Soo is an American actress and singer who graduated from New York’s Juilliard in 2012; she is perhaps best known for originating the role of Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton in the Broadway musical Hamilton, a performance for which she was nominated for the 2016 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Soo also originated the role of Natasha Rostova in a number of New York productions of Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 in 2012 and 2013.
